Aburn, 83, Miller's Merry Manor East, died at 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at his residence. He was born on March 2, 1918, in Churubusco, to William F. and Iva Mae (Hawk) Aburn. He married Anita Jean Bentz in South Whitley on Jan. 29, 1942. She preceded him in death on Jan. 25, 1982. Mr. Aburn worked for Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire Company, Fort Wayne, for 27 years, retiring in 1980. He was a World War II Army veteran and a life member of the Columbia City American Legion. He had lived in Wabash for the past year after moving from Converse. He was a longtime Whitley County resident. Surviving are a son, William (Pat) Aburn, Kokomo; a daughter, Mrs. Gregg (Donna) Richards, Wabash; five grandchildren, Ricky Aburn, Kokomo, Mrs. Scott (Teresa) Dinkins, Tonia Richards and Tiffany Richards, all of Wabash, and Traci Aburn, Franklin; and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister are deceased. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel, with Tony Thomas officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Preferred memorials are to the American Heart Association and the National Kidney Foundation.
