W. Roy Acker May, 1981 Halifax Herald W. Roy Acker, 79, of Coldbrook, died Tuesday in the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville. Born in Cherryfield, Lunenburg County, he was a son of the late William and Amanda (Veinot) Acker. He had been employed with the Dominion Atlantic Railway and the T.H.H. Fortier Limited. Surviving besides his wife, the former Annie R. Sanford, are a daughter, Phyllis (Mrs. Beverly Alexander), Burlington, Ontario; two sons, William R. (Bill), San Deigo, California; and George, Kentville; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Laura and Elsie; and a brother, Ervin. The body is in W.C. Hiltz's Funeral Home, Kentville. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday in a church to be determined, Rev. Ian MacDonald officiating, with burial in the Elm Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kentville Volunteer Fire Department's New Pumper Campaign. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
