Note N115PLACE: Phillipsburgh, Dutchess, New York, USA was listed as the place of birth but I have not been able to locate any information. Duchess County was one of the original counties in New York. John's father did live in Dutchess county during the 1790 census Dutchess County later was divided and part went to form Putnam County and some to Westchester County. They is a hamlet in Putnam County named Phillipstown but I am not sure that is correct.
