Jesse Clarence Ackerson, 79, of Pillager, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. A Memorial service is planned for Friday Jan 13 at 11:00 AM at the First Lutheran Church in Pillager with Pastor Juli Sutton-Deem officiating. Friends may begin to gather at 10:00 at the church. Jess was born Dec 14, 1926 to Edward and Sarah (Jenkins) Ackerson. He grew up in the Pillager area where he has lived most of his life. Jess was in the Army in 1945 to 1946 during WW II. He worked for the Burlington Railroad from 1957 to 1982. He married Freda Allen on April 22nd, 1952. In this union they had three daughters. Jess loved to trap which he was very good at and taught his grandson, Justin, how to do it. He was a member of the Minnesota and the National Trappers Association. He fished and loved to hunt. He had a snowplow route which he had a lot of appreciative clients for 40 years. Jess was loved very much and will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Freda, his three daughters; Catherine (John) Knosalla of Staples, Conni (Ned) Digiovanni of Motley, Caren (Lee) Hines of Randall, 6 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, four sisters; Grace Pietz, Pearl Collett, Net Fornshell, and Edith Pietz all of Pillager. He also had 2 special friends, Jeff Halverson and Gene Dennemeyer. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jack.[1]
