Thomas Acklam was born in 1751 at Bewholme, in Nunkeeling Parish, Yorkshire, England the youngest son of Will Acklam and his wife Honor. [1] Another Thomas, son of Thomas not Will, is baptised in Cottingham 2 days earlier. This Thomas here is clearly the son of the elder Will as the younger Will, only 14, would surely be described as (jun) even if he was married.
Yhomas Acklam married Elizabeth Weatherill in Nunkeeling, 1795. He is 44 years old, but his bride is clearly younger as they have five children in Bewholme. [2]
Thomas inherits Bewholme Manor farm from his eldest brother, William. The two brothers between them, George and Richard are not mentioned, perhaps they are both dead, and George's son George far away in Wintringham.
Thomas died in Bewholme 6 Nov 1811 age 60 as described on his memorial in Nunkeeling Priory [3] [4]
