Biography

Dorris Ann Barton, 83, of Bay City, TX passed away on August 5, 2017. She was born April 10, 1934 in Houston to Clifford S. and Thelma Mae Walker Ackley.

Dorris’ number one thing in her life was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and her next thing was her family. She was part of Industry Telephone Company which was started by her parents and is still run by her family today. Dorris owned and operated the Texas Grill and Restaurant in Rosenberg, TX.

Dorris is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Tom Barton; brother Gaylen Ackley and nephew Mark Ackley. She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Debbie Stavinoha and husband Mike of Richmond, Texas; son, Robert Miller, Jr. and wife Diane of Bastrop, Texas; daughter, Susie Estraca and husband Fermin of Bay City, Texas; 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday, August 8 from 5:30-7:30pm at the funeral home. Funeral services are at 1:00pm Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, with Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. A graveside service will be held 4:30pm Wednesday, at the New Ulm Cemetery in New Ulm, Texas. Serving as pallbearers, Jason Miller, Paul Hoggatt, Jr., Tommy Holland, Jayme Rocha, Joe Zamora, Kyle Lowe, Travis Urbanek, and David King. Honorary pallbearers, Larry Ackley, Harold Marek, Kurt Racke, April, Brooke, Brandi, Wendi, Mendi, Jacki, Jennifer and Miranda.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the West End Baptist Church, 7577 Ernst Pkwy, Industry, Texas 78944.
