Moses came over to the United States as a stowaway through New York City. Moses parents had died in Ecuador when he was 13 years old, his aunt took in his brothers and sisters but did not want to take him in for some reason. He was put in a orphanage where nuns took care of him. He ran away, became a stowaway, once found out by the captain he worked for years on the ship, first as a servant of the ship and later became one of the cooks aboard the ship. Eventually he ended up living in California and married the widow of his best friend. He had a previous wife named Esther and divorced her. His best friend (Corugedo) made him promise to take care of his wife and children upon his death. He did, he married Vicenta Garcia and adopted her children, also had a baby girl (Virginia Acosta). He worked as a chef for hotels in Calfornia until he retired and became a naturalized US citizen.
