Biography

Wiley was born about 1782 in North Carolina.[1][2][3]

He married Susannah[3] "Susan"[2] and had the following known children:

  1. Elizabeth Acree was born about 1822 in Georgia.[2]
  2. Wiley Acree was born about 1827 in Georgia.[2]
  3. Franklin Acree was born about 1830 in Georgia.[2]
  4. Maryan Acree was born about 1831 in Georgia.[2]


In 1805 he was living in Greene County where he was entitled to a single draw in the Georgia Land Lottery of that year indicating he was an unmarried adult male.[4]

He appears on the 1809 tax list of Greene County, Georgia in Moore's District.[5]

In 1816 he is found on the Wilkes County, Georgia tax list.[6]

Wiley appears on the 1827 Georgia state census of Taliaferro County, Georgia in District 601 (Captain Justice) with the following household members:

males)-18:5 ; 18-45:1
females)-18:3 ; 18+:1
9 slaves[1]

And he was living in Taliaferro County, Georgia in 1830 with the following household members:

males)-5:3 ; 5-10:2 ; 15-20:1 ; 40-50:1
females)10-15:1 ; 15-20:1 ; 30-40:1 ; 60-70:1
8 slaves[7][8]

In 1840 the following persons are listed in his household in Taliaferro County, Georgia:

males)-5:2 ; 5-10:1 ; 10-15:2 ; 15-20:2 ; 20-30:1 ; 50-60:1
females)-5:1 ; 5-10:1 ; 20-30:1 ; 30-40:1 ; 70-80:1
13 slaves[9][10]

He appears in the 1860 Taliaferro County, Georgia Census[3] and continued to live in Taliaferro County until his death in 1867.

Wiley died intestate sometime before 03 Jun 1867 the date that Lilburn and Susan Acree signed an oath of administration for his estate.[11]
