Biography

Jim Tom was the son of Alonzo Acree and Jessie Arrington. In 1914 has a driver for Arington's Livery barn. In 1915 he attended the University of Arkansas. He graduated from Annapolis Naval Academy and received his commission as Ensign in 1919. In July he reported for duty on the Battleship Virginia.^[1] He married Marjorie Wait in 1921. They divorced in 1931.
