Joshua was born between 1730 and 1740 in St. Paul's Pariah, Hanover County, Virginia., the son of William Acree Sr. (c1710-1767) and Elizabeth Willis (c1710-aft. 1740). He married in the 1750s to Rebecca Wade, born about 1735 and died after 1798.
Joshua Acree wrote his will on 7 February 1777, lewving his property to his wife and children. He died a few months later, and his widow, Rebecca Acree, filed his will with the Hanover Court on September 4th.[1]
Joshua Acree and Rebecca Wade had sons William, Joshua Jr., David, Carter, and John Acree. They had several daughters, but they were still single when Joshua wrote his will in February 1777 and he failed to mention them by name. He also mentioned the child my wife now goes with, an indication that Rebecca was pregnant when he wrote his will.
