Lucy Acworth was born in Barrow Upon Soar, Leicestershire, England.

Lucy Erskine Acworth was born^[1] in 1841 in the Barrow Upon Soar District. She is the daughter of William Acworth and Harriet Garland Muller.

In the 1841 Census^[2] she is 4 months old and living with her mother and father.

In the 1851 census^[3] Lucy Erskine (age 10) is living at Rothley, Leicestershire with her parents and siblings: Eleanora (age 11); Carr Glyn (age 8 ); Herbert Sumner (age 6) and Wiliam Mitchell (age 4 months).

Marriage

Lucy Erskine married^[4][5] Andrew Orr on 6 May 1859 at St Margaret, Plumstead, Greenwich, England. There had been a civil marriage on 30 April 1859. Lucy's father Rev William Acworth led the marriage service at St Margaret, Plumstead.

They had 7 children: Ellen Joy (bor 16 May 1860); Andrew William (born 1863); Harriet Gertrude (born 1864); Herbert Holmes (born 1865); Mary Acworth (born 1 Jan 1867); Lucy Elizabeth (born 7 December 1868) and Charles William James (born 1870).

Her husband Andrew Orr died in 1870 leaving her to bring up a very young family.

In the UK 1881 Census^[6] Lucy Erskine Orr (age 40) is living at The Hollies in Bromley with her eldest son Andrew William (age 18). The rest of the children are absent.

In the UK 1901 Census^[7] [ Lucy Erskine Orr (age 60) is living in Frimley Green, Surrey, England with her children: Harriet Gertrude (age 37); Herbert Holmes (age 36); Mary Acworth (age 34) and Lucy Elizabeth (age 32). The two eldest children Ellen Joy and Andrew William have gone to Australia. The youngest Charles ( age 31) must be away.
