First-hand information. Entered by Jim Adair at registration in 2016. Updated through the years.
Adair is my father's surname; Its been traced to William Issac Adare born in 1780; lived in Madison County AL. His son was Samuel, then William David, followed by James Wilson Adair Sr and Jr, then my family, James Wilson Adair III. The Adairs lived in Madison Co., Al from 1809 until the 1930s. In the late 1800s, many of this family moved to Texas and Arkansas where they still reside. Research has been focused on finding the parents of William Issac Adare with good sources.
The Moons were quakers, Eleanor married William Issac Adare in the early 1800s. Early on, Moon relatives arrived in Bucks CO, PA about the time of William Penn. It appears that some migrated too South Carolina and Alabama shortly after the revolutionary War.
The Sanford family lived many years in NY, then moved to DC in the 1900s. Don Alonzo Sanford, married to Louisa Jane Bloxton, amassed a great deal of land in Arizona, where my Great Grandmother was one of the first white settlers born in the Arizona territory.
The Summerour family can be traced back to their European Ancestors in the 1600s. Dave Summerour, my Great Grandfather, was born and raised in Lumpkin County GA, where he made his living as a gold miner and raised his 14 kids in a small cabin.
Jim Adair's DNA has been tested for genealogical purposes. It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Jim or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with Jim:
I saw the post you put on Elias Williams and you may be right about being related. But you mentioned about Glen Easton being in WV; that is true after 1863 or so, before that it was part of VA. We need to investigate our possibly shared heritage!
Thanks, Cindy Williams Lesure
