Biography

William was born about 1814 in Laurens District, South Carolina. His parents were Robert Washington Adair and Hannah Theresa Prather.

William was named in the first will of his grandfather, Bazel Pitts Prather, in Laurens District in the 1820s.

He was married to Rachel Turley in South Carolina. They moved to Greenville District and were living there in 1850.

William moved his family to Lauderdale County by 1860.
