Alexander was born in 1895. He was the son of Alexander Adair and Sarah Bennington. [1] Alexander attended St Patrick’s College as a nine year old boy.
Alex enlisted in the Army when he was 19 years and 7 months of age. His Service No: 2450 He attained the rank of Lance Corporal. He was at Gallipoli. then transferred to France, and was engaged in battles at the Somme and Pozieres. He had a gun shot wound to his left thigh which required his evacuation to London.[2] Alexander married an English girl, Agnes Louisa Creek. They married at St George Hanover Square, London, in 1917 .[3]
The following year, on 10 January 1919 Agnes and infant daughter Kathleen May migrated to Australia on the Osterley, disembarking at Sydney. They resided at Deakin Avenue, Mildura where Alexander worked as a law clerk.[4]
He was 33 years of age when on 19 February 1928, Alexander died of toxaemia from pulmonary tuberculosis. He was buried in the Nichols Point, Mildura Cemetery on 20 February 1928 [5] [6]
