Marriage: bef 12 May 1804 to Christiana B. _____, (Georgia.)
Death: bef 12 May 1804 (brother Bozeman files to settle estate) see NOTE1
Only known child of Robert Adair - with Caty (Catherine?) Ramsey:
James Ramsey (out of wedlock - see court case under SOURCES)
NOTE1: This Robert Adair married someone named Christiana B. _____. He is NOT the same Robert Adair of Georgia who married Elizabeth "Betsy" Reid, as some sites state. Find A Grave: Memorial #11435167
Bozeman Adair petitioned the court to settle his brother Robert Adair's estate on 12 May 1804. About a year later, this petition was challenged in court by his WIDOW AND RELICT, Christiana B. Adair on 5 Apr 1805. There are some later local records for a Christiana A. (Adair?) Story in Jackson Co. If this is the same Christiana, it's possible in 1805 she was preparing to marry someone named Story and took charge of her own affairs from Bozeman. This idea could use some careful research. It is not yet known when Robert married her or whether they had children. There is no mention of minor children in the dispute. The timeline for his relationship with Caty Ramsey is also not known, nor when son James was born.
It is not known whether Robert Adair was older or younger than his brother Bozeman, so the birthdate of 1773 is only an estimate. Bozeman states on the 1850 census he was born in Virginia c1771, so a Virginia birthplace could also be true for Robert. Their father, William Adair, is known to have been in Georgia by Feb 1775 (Headright) about 4 years after Bozeman's birth. If Robert is much younger, he could have been born in Georgia.
Issued Citation for Bozeman Adair to obtain letters Administration on the estate of William Adair dec'd. Also Citation to Bozeman Adair to obtain letters Administration on the estate of Robt. Adair dec'd.
Christiana B. Adare (two words marked out) Relict & widow of Robert Adare dec'd hereby enters a caveat against letters of Administration issuing to Bozeman Adare the said Christiana having a legal & the best right to the said Administration.
So far, I have found no children involved with these proceedings between Robert Adare or Christiana B. Adare. The only issue known to Robert is the following:
James Ramsey, son of Robert Adair
22 July 1805 - Court of the Ordinary - Extract

Dec'd Robert Adair's brother Bozeman Adair appears in court:
...Bozeman Adair esq. having stated to this court that Caty Ramsey a citizen of Jackson County has had several illegitimate children amongst others one said and believed to be child of Robert Adair dec'd and acknowledged by him in his lifetime, and the said Bozeman being desirous that the said child being called James Ramsey should be educated and brought up in a decent manner as he was requested by his brother Robert in his lifetime to do, prays that he may be appointed guardian for the said child James Ramsey. Ordered that Bozeman Adair be appointed guardian for the child James Ramsey, child of Caty Ramsey.
I cannot find the original court page for the above document......still looking! On both Ancestry and Family Search the "title" for Guardians jumps to the year 1818.
Here is a published EXTRACT. Open the booklet and then type in 17 next to 91 in the image count. This will take you to page 11 of the booklet. The extract begins on the bottom left column.
Do any of the following Jackson County documents pertain to this same son, now an adult, named James Ramsey?? (Needs further research)
A James Ramsey in Jackson Co, Georgia, 1820 census
A James Ramsey in Jackson Co, Georgia, 1830 census.
Two marriages: 1) James Ramsey and Jenny Garrett on 9 Mar 1819, Jackson Co, GA or 2) James Ramsey and Sarah Dearing on 9 May 1817, Wilkes Co, Georgia. (no original images available).......follow up on these docs.
DNA Interest
In our quest to follow who "William of Wilkes" Adair is and where he originated, the male lines are basically all down through son Bozeman and his descendants. James Ramsey would also lead back to William through son Robert, and son John's daughter Susanna could offer information on missing females. Until there is a lateral or upward DNA match to William Adair himself - providing attachment to a different Adair line(s) - all knowledge sadly stops at William.
