Biography

Elisabeth Adam was born about 1829 in Ballater. She married Robert Main on 20 Aug 1854 in Monymusk. They had at least 10 children. In the 1861 census, Robert, a Crofter and Dyker, and Elizabeth were living at the Tillyfourie Cottage in Monymusk with their children Robert, James, John and William. In the 1871 census, Robert and Elizabeth were at Glenton Cottage in Monymusk with their children Robert, James, William, George, Peter G, Margret A, and Elizabeth. The 1881 census has the family at Glenton Croft, Robert age 51 a Crofter and Dyker, his wife Elisabeth, and children Robert, George, Peter G, Margaret A, Elisabeth, Archibald and Mary. Robert died 25 Mar 1901 at Glenton Croft, age 71. Elisabeth died 06 Mar 1916. Robert, his wife Elizabeth, their sons Peter Grant and George, are all buried in the same gravesite in the Kirkyard of Monymusk - Upper Part.
