Biography

When Emil F. Adam was born on December 1, 1922, in Omaha, Nebraska, his father, Edward, was 25 and his mother, Frances, was 26. He had one son and one daughter with Jeanette Theresa Setlak between 1949 and 1950. He died on February 19, 1999, at the age of 76, and was buried in Bellevue, Nebraska.

Soldier’s Medal to Sgt. E. F. Adam

The Soldier’s Medal has been awarded to S. Sgt Emil F Adam, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward E. Adam 4215 South Twelfth Street. The award is for heroism displayed near Minsinslman, Mindanao, Philippine Islands on May 1, 1945. the citation states that a fellow soldier, equipped with Sergeant Adam full field pack, lost his footing while fording the Mulita River. He was swept downstream toward boulders and timbers. “With utter disregard for his own safety” Sergeant Adam dived into the river and fought his way to the struggling soldier, brought him safely to shore. Sergeant Adam is with the One Hundred Twenty-fourth Infantry.
