John Adam was born around 1852 in Paisley, Renfrewshire.

John married Ann Craig (~1854 - ) on 25 Jul 1879 in Paisley.

In the 1881 Scotland Census, John was said to be 29 years old employed as a Plasterer and residing at 27 Maxwelton Street, Paisley with his wife Ann (27) and daughter Euphemia (1).^[1]

Sometime between the 1881 and 1891 census' being held John's wife Ann died, and he re-married to Elizabeth. Further research is required to ascertain the details of this.

In the 1891 Scotland Census, John is said to be 40 years old and employed as a Plasterer. He is now residing in Edinburgh at 9 Prospect Street, with his wife Elizabeth (33), and children Euphemia (11) and Elizabeth (9mths).^[2]
