Sometime between the 1881 and 1891 census' being held John's wife Ann died, and he re-married to Elizabeth. Further research is required to ascertain the details of this.
In the 1891 Scotland Census, John is said to be 40 years old and employed as a Plasterer. He is now residing in Edinburgh at 9 Prospect Street, with his wife Elizabeth (33), and children Euphemia (11) and Elizabeth (9mths).[2]
