Biography

Frederick Field Adams was born in Leverett, Massachusetts, on 7 June 1849,[1] the son of Christopher C. Adams and his first wife Harriet (Hubbard) Adams.[2]

The 1850 U.S. Census recorded Christopher C. Adams, age 36, a farmer: Harriet H. Adams, age 31; William H. Adams, age 3; and Frederick F. Adams, age 1; in the Leverett, Massachusetts, household of farmer Ransom Adams, age 59; Dolly Adams, age 58; Aurelia Adams, 28; and Dolly Adams, Jr., 26. All were born in Massachusetts.[3]

The 1860 U.S. Census recorded Frederick F. Adams in the Leverett, Massachusetts, household of Christopher C. Adams, 45, a farm laborer, and Marcia A. Adams, 30. Children in the household were William H. Adams, 13, Frederick F. Adams, 10, Lizzie L. Adams, 8, and Ida L. Adams, 5. All were born in Massachusetts. The household of Ransom, Dolly, Dolly Jr., and Aurelia Adams was listed close by (separated by one other household).[4] In 1865 the Massachusetts state census recorded Frederic F. Adams at age 15 in the Leverett household of Christopher C. Adams, 50, and Marcia A. Adams, 35, with siblings, William H. Adams, 18, Lizzie M. Adams, 13, and Ida M. Adams, 10.[5]

He married Jennette Stetson. [1] Their children were Ida, Clara, and Winford.

The 1880 U.S. Census recorded Frederick F. Adams, age 30, and his wife Janet S. Adams living in Leverett, Massachusetts. Frederick was a farmer. Both were born in Massachusetts to parents born in Massachusetts.[6]

He died in Leverett on 15 February 1920 and was interred in "Amherst Vault" (according to the death certificate) or in East Leverett Cemetery (according to Leverett records).[1][2] He is named on a memorial stone in the East Leverett Cemetery. According to the death certificate, he was a farm living in East Leverett.[2]
