Biography

John Adams was born April 3, 1925 and is the son of Adam Adams and Mary Adams. John grew up in Dunkard Township, Pennsylvania[1] along with nine siblings; Peter Adams, Anna Adams, Mary Adams, Emma Adams, George Adams, Nick Adams, David Adams, Margaret Adams and Michael Adams.

John married Mary Elouise Ghuste Campbell about 1961 and they made their home in Bobtown, Pennsylvania. Together they raised two children, Carol Ann Adams and Mary Ann Adams. John died September 12, 2015 and is buried in Saint Mary Assumption Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, New Salem, Pennsylvania.[2]

Obituary

John Adams, 90, a resident of Bobtown, Pennsylvania since the age of 5, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015, in the Rolling Meadows Nursing Home in Waynesburg. Born April 3, 1925 in Allison #2, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Adam and Mary (Rial) Adams.

A veteran of the US Navy during World War II, he was a coal miner, retired from J & L Steel’s Shannopin Mine in Bobtown. John was a member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church in New Salem, the UMWA Local 6159, and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 548 in Morgantown.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John enjoyed spending his time with his family, gardening, and dancing with his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary (Ghuste) Adams.

He is also survived by three daughters and their husbands, JoAnn and Les Faucheux of New Orleans, Carol and Charlie Jeffries, and Mary Ann and Jim Michenko, all of Waynesburg; a step-daughter, Darnise Hanks of Eufaula, two grandsons, Jason Scott and Tyler Jeffries, a step granddaughter Kimberly Sherouse, and two great-granddaughters, Haven and Sophia Scott and two step-great-granddaughters, Jessica Brumley and Katelyn Sherouse.

Deceased are brothers, Pete, George, Nick, David and Michael, and sisters, Anna, Emma, Mary and Margaret. John was the last member of his immediate family.

Honoring his wishes, there will be no public services. Private graveside services will be held at St. Mary’s Byzantine Cemetery, New Salem, at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion.[3]
