John Adams was 28 years old when he was tried on 28 March 1839 in Monaghan having been found guilty of the crimes of robbery and burglary. His sentence was ten years transportation[1].

At this stage no record of John Adams' having arrived in Australia has been found. It is possible he was sent elsewhere (eg the Caribbean) or died in prison.
