Biography

Nathan William Adams was born on February 2, 1832 in Bathurst, Lanark, Upper Canada. His parents were Arza Matson Adams and Sabina Ann Clark.

Nathan originally traveled to Utah as part of the Samuel Gully/Orson Spencer Company in 1849. According to Adams' life sketch, he traveled to California in 1852 or 1853. The Pace autobiography documents him returning to Utah with the Alexander Williams Company in 1853. Later, he participated with a group of rescuers sent out to Wyoming to assist members of the Church stranded on the plains.

Nathan married Mary Malinda Plunkett on February 15, 1855 in American Fork, Utah County, Utah. They had eleven children.

  10. William Adams was born on August 30, 1874 in Kanab.
  11. Orpha Elzetta Adams was born on April 17, 1877 in Kanab.

Nathan passed away at an age of eighty-four on December 26, 1916 in Kanab. He is buried in the Kanab City Cemetery.[1][2]
