Biography

George James Duncan Adams was born on June 7, 1860 in American Fork, Utah County, Utah Territory, United States. He was the son of Nathan William Adams and Mary Malinda Plunkett.

He moved to Kanab, Kane County, Utah with his family.

George married Arminda Hamblin on January 24, 1883 in Saint George, Washington County, Utah . They had eight children, all born in Kanab.

  1. An unnamed child was born and died on July 30, 1881.
  2. Rhoda "Ruth" Elizabeth Adams was born on August 23, 1884.
  3. George James Adams was born on May 10, 1886.
  4. William Fredrick Adams was born on December 25, 1887.
  5. Mary Ellen Adams was born on April 8, 1890.
  6. Araminda Hamblin Adams was born on February 23, 1894.
  7. Francis Marion Adams was born on January 30, 1896; died on February 22, 1896.
  8. Tamar Adams was born on May 17, 1898.

George passed away at an age of sixty-seven on July 8, 1927 in Kanab. He is buried in the Kanab City Cemetery.[1][2]

Obituary

Funeral Services Held For George J. Adams

Funeral serviced were held Saturday, December 29, in the North Ward Chapel for George J. Adams, 59, of Kanab. Mr. Adams or "Dudo" as he was known to his friends, died Thursday, December 27, in the Kanab Hospital.

Services were under the direction of Bishop Cecil Pugh of the Kanab South Ward and were as follows: Song "Come Ye Disconsolate", by the choir. Invocation, Carlos Judd. Speaker, Elmer Jackson. Ladies Trio, "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine", Shirley Cutler, Elvn Judd and Julia Young. Speaker, Ben Swapp. Testimonial were read by Mrs. Tarmar Hamblin. Song, " Home On The Range", Larry Burton. Speaker, Daniel S. Frost. Benediction, Julius S. Dalley.

Mr. Adam's was born May 10, 1886, and Has been a resident of Kanab all his life and was engaged in the cattle raising industry. He is survived by three sons George N. Adams, New York City, Don Adams, U.S. Army, and Neil Adams of Kanab and 6 grandchildren. Burial was in the Kanab Cemetery.
