Biography

Kenneth Merle Adams was born in 1920 in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. His parents were Vernon Dickey Adams (1884–1972) and Laura Bell McNees (1888–1973). The family moved to Canton, Stark County, Ohio by 1930.[1] In 1940, Ken was working as a teller in a bank in Canton.[2]

During World War II he enlisted as a private in the Army Air Corp on 25 September 1941 at Fort Hayes in Columbus, Ohio.[3], [4] In 1943 2nd Lieutenant Adams was stationed as an instructor at Carlsbad Army Air Field in New Mexico.[5], [6]

Ken married Dorothy May Edwards on 28 February 1942.

Ken died at age 23 when he was burned in a plane crash during a training exercise in 1943. The accident occurred near Elk Mountain in Santa Fe National Forest in New Mexico. His remains were recovered and returned home to be buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton, Stark County, Ohio (Plot: Sunset Section).[5], [7], [6]
