John and Emma were the first settlers of Indian Burying Place, many of the later residents their descendants. It's unclear where they came from, or what Emma's maiden name was.
"Indian Burying Place is located approximately halfway between Nippers Harbour to the south, and Shoe Cove to the north. John & Emma Adams are believed to have been the first family to settle there, sometime in the 1790s-early 1800s.[1].
"Robert Prole was the son of Mary ADAMS & William PROLE. William Prole was a soldier from England and a cooper, who came to IBP at the invitation of John Adams, they met in St Johns. He later married [John's] dau Mary Adams. Robert Prole (no dates of birth or death) married Jul 9 1865 to Susan GILES (bap Aug 7 1847 IBP, dau of Isaac & Susan, she died Dec 13 1927 IBP). She remarried to Henry Stoodley."[2].
