Biography
Earl J. Adams was born in Zerbe, Pennsylvania in 1894 to Edward and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jones Adams.[1]Earl's daughter-in-law points out that Sparky had no middle name: it was simply Earl J. Adams. [2]
He was a shortstop and third baseman for the Chicago Cubs from 1922-1927, then played for the PIttsburgh Pirates, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Cincinnati Reds. He played with the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1930 and the 1931 World Series. After a 13-year career in professional baseball, he retired in 1934.[3]
Earl was married to Bertha Frew Adams. Their children:

Doris Adams Enders.
Following baseball career, Earl owned and operated a service station with his son, in Tremont, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. [3] Earl J., Jr. then moved to Langhorne and took a job in the service department at Reedman Motors.[2]
Earl died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. [3] He is buried at Saint Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Cemetery in Tremont, Pennsylvania. [4]
