When Winna Adams was born on April 16, 1795, in Chatham County, North Carolina, her father, Thomas Adams, was 39, and her mother, believed to be Sarah Ann (Vaughn) Adams, was 39. She married Pvt John McNabb in 1814 in Blount County, Tennessee.[1] John and Winna McNabb with children Sarah (born 1814) and Adaline (born 1817) left Blount County for Williamson County, Tennessee. The family received a letter of recommendation from Bakers Creek Presbyterian Church on Nov 18, 1818 from Andrew S. Morrison.[2]Eliza McNabb is born in 1819. The 1820 Tenn census,[3] Williamson County list John McNabb (1 male 26-45, John is 36) with 3 females under 10 (Sarah age 6, Adaline age 3, Eliza age 1) along with Winna (female 26-45, Winna is age 25). James McNabb is born in 1820, William Benjamin in 1823 and Catharine Amanda in 1825. 1830 Williamson County, Tennessee census[4] list John McNabb (1 male 40-50, John age 46) James (age 9) and William Benjamin (age 7) (2 males 5-10), Catharine Amanda (age 5, 1female <5), Eliza (age 11, 1 female 5-10), Sarah (age 16) and Adaline (age 13) (2 females 10-15) and Winna (female 30-40, age 35). She died as a young mother on March 1, 1830, at the age of 34 in Franklin, Tennessee.
