James Adams was born on 17 March 1777 in Boothbay, Maine. His parents were Samuel Adams and Sarah (Reed) Adams[1].

He married Mehitable Tibbetts on 19 January 1809 in Boothbay[2]. They had fourteen children, twelve of whom survived to adulthood[3]:

9. Charles Fisher, born 19 Jan 1826; died 1839
10. John Sewall, born Nov 1829; married Charlotte Buck
11. Willard, born 14 Apr 1832; married Mrs. Mary Linscott
12. Emily Louisa, born 17 Sep 1834; married David Adams

James passed away on 9 October 1868 in Boothbay[4] and is buried in Kenniston Cemetery[5].
