Henry was born about 1838 perhaps in Missouri. When he joined the 55th, he was residenced in Warrenton, Missouri and was 25 years of age and a farmer. [1] On his enlistment records, he was described as being 5' 7" with a light complexion, brown eyes and black hair. He enlisted at Readville. [2]
