George Gammon Adams (1821-1898) was the son of James Adams and his wife Sarah née Goode.
He was an English portrait sculptor and medallist noted for his statue of General Charles Napier in Trafalgar Square.
He entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1840 on the recommendation of the medallist William Wyon. He won a silver medal at the Academy in the same year.[4] He was also taught to model and cut medals and coin dies by Benedetto Pistrucci.
After a year in Rome studying under John Gibson in 1846, he returned to London and worked for Wyon at the Royal Mint on Tower Hill.
He married firstly on the 7th of March 1851 in St Elphin, Warrington, Lancs. Ellen Euphemia, only child of John Bromfield Ryder, Esq., of Sloane-street, London. Ellen Euphemia died aged 47 in 1881.
He died aged 76 on the 14th of March 1898 in Acton Green Lodge, Acton, Middlesex and was buried in The family vault of James Adams in St Mary's Churchyard, Staines
