Alexander, son of William Adams & Elizabeth Annan, was born on 10 January 1862 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland.^[1] In the 1871 census Alexander (age 9) was the son of Elizabeth Adams in West Hartlepool, Stranton, Durham, England.^[2] In the 1881 census Alexander (age 19), Clerk In Shipyard, was the son of Elizabeth Adams at 16 Dover Street, Stranton, Durham, England.^[3]
