Biography

Bought land at Oyster River, from John Ault, April 10, 1645. He was taxed in 1648, and took the oath of fidelity June 21, 1669. Constable in 1662. His house was burned and he, with 14 others, were killed by Indians at the Oyster River Massacre. The mound of earth marking their graves is near the Mathes burial place, at Durham Point.
