Biography

Andrew Adams was born at Greenock, Renfrewshire in 1880. [1] HIs parents were George Adams, who hailed from Aberdeen, and Mary Ann Carr (also: Kerr) of Kilmarnock in Ayrshire. [2]


In 1907, Andrew married Annie Elizabeth Dinning at Greenock. [3] Andrew worked as a caulker in a shipyard, and he and Annie lived at no. 19 Ingleston Street in Greenock. [4] In 1915, their son, George Dinning died, aged about one year. [5]


On 13th April 1935, Andrew Adams died at Greenock in his fifty-sixth year. [6] His body was buried in the family burying ground at Greenock Cemetery, underneath a gravestone bearing the following inscription: [7]

  • Unknown infant child:—The gravestone inscription suggests a second child who died in infancy. The name of this child and its years of birth and death have not yet been discovered. ~Kilpatrick-1128 (2022-11-06]]
