Biography

The daughter of Aaron Elijah Adams (1847-1904) and Ella Jane Paxson (1847-1914), Clara Adams was born in Washington Township, Indiana[citation needed] in 1867, residing there with her family.[1] Her siblings included:

  1. Arthur Everett Adams (1867-1928)
  2. Franklin Paxon Adams (1869-1948)
  3. Redford Adams (1889-1889)

Clara's family moved west to Missouri, where she married Jonathan Meracle, marrying in Reynolds County, Missouri on June 17, 1893[2] and having four children together:

  1. William Adams Meracle (1895-1895)
  2. Edna Luella Meracle (1897-1975)
  3. Theda Maud Meracle (1899-1900)
  4. Warren Wayne Elliott Meracle (1902-1958)

In 1900, Clara and her family lived in a boarding house in St. Francois County, Missouri,[3] where her husband worked as a carpenter. By 1910, they had moved to Indiana, residing in Eel River.[4] Clara and her family moved west to California, taking up residence in Alameda, California.[5]

Clara's husband passed away in 1939; in 1940, Clara lived with her son, Warren, and his family, residing in Eureka, California.[6] By 1950, Clara Meracle was institutionalized at Sonoma County Hospital in Sonoma, California,[7] where she passed away[8] at the age of 76. She is buried with her husband at Santa Rosa Odd Fellows Cemetery in Santa Rosa, California.[9]
