Biography

Phillip Adams was most likely the son of Thomas and born about 1645 at Northampton Co., Virginia.^[1]

Philip and Anne Crew were married by Justice of the Peace William Stevens on July 9, 1670 in Somerset, Maryland.^{[2] [3][4]}

They had the following children:

1. Thomas Adams, b. 8 Nov 1673,^[5] d. 1735 (Age 62 years)
2. Philip Adams (I), b. 9 Jan 1676, d. 31 Jan 1675 (Age 1 month)^[6]
3. Jacob Adams, b. 16 Dec 1676,^[7] d. 1745 (Age 68 years)
4. Philip Adams (II), b. 21 Apr 1679,^[8] d. 1772 (Age 93 years)
5. William Adams, b. 17 Apr 1681,^[9] d. 1760 (Age 79 years)
6. Mary Adams, b. 1 Mar 1683^[10]
7. George Adams, b. 2 Apr 1685,^[11] d. 1750 (Age 65 years)

Philip's second marriage was to Mary Barry on 1 Sep 1691 in Somerset Co., Maryland. Their marriage and the births of two children were recorded in Circuit Court records there.^[13][14] They had at least the following children:

Philip Adams died in 1696.^[1]

Research Notes

According to Matthew Wise, Phillip Adams was probably born to Thomas about 1645 at Northampton, Virginia.^[1] According to the Boston Transcript, Philip Adams was born in 1650 in Maryland.^[17] However, since there is a record that Philip Adams was a headright to Ambrose Dixon in 1663 for transport from Virginia to Maryland, it seems that Matthew Wise was correct.^[18]
