Biography

Annie was born in 1862^[1] at Hasholme in the parish of Holme on Spalding Moor, Yorkshire, England, where she was baptised.^[2] She was the daughter of George Adamson and Catherine Walters; in 1871 Ann lived with her father and siblings in Holme.^[3]

At the time of the 1881 census she worked as a domestic servant for the Bows family in Holme.^[4]

Ann married George Leighton in December 1881 after banns were read in Eastrington.^[5][6] The family lived at Hasholme Cottages in 1891, when George was a farm labourer.^[7] By 1901 they had moved to Bishopsoil.^[8]

George died in 1931 at the age of 71.^[9] Ann died in 1943 at the age of 80.^[10]
