Biography

George was born and baptised in 1829 in Wetwang, Yorkshire, England. He was the son of George and Elizabeth Adamson.^[1]

At the age of 12, George was working for the Boast family in Holme on Spalding Moor, Yorkshire.^[2]

In 1855 he married Catherine Watters in Whitgift, Yorkshire.^[3][4] The family lived in Holme on Spalding Moor, Yorkshire.^[5] At the time of the 1861 census George was away from home, working as a shepherd for the Whiteheads in Holme.^{[6] [7]} In 1881 he was away again, shepherding for the Smith family at Hasholme Hall.^[8]

George died in 1894 at the age of 62.^[9]

Research notes

In 1871 George said that he was married, but Catherine was not at home. ^[10] I haven't found a death registration for her. Fuller-8857 15:44, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
