Biography

John Benton Aday was born on 10 Dec 1886 in Waxahachie, Ellis, Texas. [1]

In 1900, at the age of 13, he was living in Justice Precinct 5, Ellis, Texas, with his parents, William and Sarah, and four siblings: Robert F (Brother age 18), William W (Brother age 16), Roman N (Brother age 12), and Mary M (Sister age 9). He was working as a farm laborer. [2]

In 1910, at the age of 22, he was living in Justice Precinct 5, Ellis County, with his parents and four siblings: William W (Brother age 16), Roman N (Brother age 12), and Mary M (Sister age 9), and adopted sister Mattie L Aday (Age 3). [3]

On 5 June 1917, he registered for the World War I Draft. at the time he was single and farming on his own account. He was tall and slender build with blue eyes and dark hair. [4]

He was inducted into the Army on 8 October 1917, in Waxahachie, Texas. He was first assigned to the 7th Battalion, 165th Depot Brigade. He was reassigned to Company K, 144th Infantry Regiment, [5] and served in France from July 1918 to June 1919. He was promoted to PFC on September 9, 1918. He returned to the states and was discharged on June 21, 1919. [6]

He married Nina Mae Brown on 8 Oct 1919 in Ellis County, Texas. [7]

In 1920, at the age of 33, he was living in Justice Precinct 1, with his first wife, Hassie. He was a farmer. [8]

In 1930, at the age of 43, he was living in Precinct 1, Ellis, Texas, with his second wife, Nina, and two children: Harold D (Son age 5), and Donnis J (Daughter age 4). He was a farmer and a veteran of World War I. [9]

In 1940, at the age of 53, he was living in Justice Precinct 7, Ellis County, with his wife, Nina, and two teenage children: Harold D (Son age 15) and Doras Jane (Daughter age 13). He was the owner of a farm. [10]

He was registered for the World War II draft in 1942. (Those born between 1877 and 1879) He was married at the time and still farming on his own account. [11]

In 1950, at the age of 63, he was living in Dallas, Texas, with his wife Nina Mae. He was working in a Veterans Administration Hospital. [12]

John passed away on15 August 1963, at the age of 76, in Dallas, Dallas, Texas. Cause: shown as Aspiration pneumonia, bilateral. [13] He is buried in Waxahachie City Cemetery, Waxahachie, Ellis, Texas. [14]
