He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.); the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire in 1915; was President of the Royal Agricultural Society of England in 1917 and was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1917.
He was decorated with the award of the Order of St. Sava of Serbia; was decorated with the award of the Order of the Crown of Belgium.
He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.
