Lucy was born in October 1864 In Leighton Buzzard, Buckinghamshire, England. ^[1]

In 1871 is living @ 19, St. Paul's Street Leighton Buzzard. In 1881 she is living, with her parents and 7 siblings, @ 8, Wakefield Road, Brighton, Sussex and, at age 16, is working as a Board School Teacher. In 1891 she is now married, to Charles Ayres, and living in20, Upper Wellington Street, Brighton In 1911 she is living in 4, Chesham Street, Brighton with her husband Charles, who is now Assistant Chief Constable to the Brighton Police, and 5 children. . Lucy Adey died on October 14 1941. She left £937 18s 9d. Probate was granted to Nellie Valentina Ayres, her spinster daughter and George Ailwyn Porter.
