Research Notes

  1. There is another James Adkins with the middle initial "W" who was living in Pound Gap, Virginia when he enlisted in Co. G., Kentucky 5th Infantry Regiment on 11 Nov 1861. Mustered out 20 Oct 1862. Not sure this is the same man as the 1860 Census has him living in Pike Kentucky.
  2. Some say that he was the son of James Atkinson (1747-1837) and Mary Unknown (1758-1839). No adequate sources.

Acknowledgements

  1. Betty Keene created Adkins-1233.
  2. Darlene Scott Kerr created Adkins-4676 on 8 November 2017, added bio and sources. Found it was a duplicate. They were merged. Did what I could to clean it after merge. Some erroneous information.

It seems to me that the sources section on this is still a mess. Needs some more work.
