Adkins-5895 and Adkins-2717 appear to represent the same person because: Same person but created with wife Mary Miller which is an unproven surname for his wife.
I adopted this "Orpha ned Profile" to find documentation through research, but it takes time to be diligent.

I see you manage many Isom Adkins' profiles. It's tough to find information when family surnames get handed down through the years. The Isom Adkins match you suggest has no documentation that Adkins- 5895 migrated to Boone County, West Virginia. He is not listed in Boone County Record of Deaths. Family Search ID LZVL-P1B [Isom Adkins son of Harmon Adkins & Nancy Estep. I agree, Mary Miller isn't proven, yet. Research may be found, soon. Please be patient until I've completed this profile research. Assistance and sharing information via message or email is an appreciated way to correct profiles. Thanks, R. Lear

The Isom that needs to merge with this one has nothing to suggest any place. It was created by mistake. The only clue to who he might be is the attachment of a wife named Mary Miller. I added Ronnie Adkins quote from his book on the Isom you manage in the comments section on this profile so you can see how they connect.

I do realize that it is confusing and even Ronnie mentioned that. But since his research in 1990, nothing has come to light to shed any better understanding of the men. Y-DNA would not help either because all of the Isom’s descend from William Atkinson and ATDNA is too far away from this generation to be of any help.

Adkins-9382 and Adkins-2717 appear to represent the same person because: Same person, new profile created based off census record.
I believe this Isom was already here on WikiTree. The profile would be this one- https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Adkins-2717 although this profile does not contain all the possible information on him.

If the death record is for this Isom, he was born in 1821 and not 1795 since he was 77 when he died in 1898. The difference between someone who is 103 or 77 is too large to have been an accidental mistake on the part of an informant.
Based on this, I believe the correct profile [for the] Isom [that died in 1898] is this one- https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Adkins-345

His mother is Delphia. Nan was most likely a nickname and not an abbreviation of Nancy.

I hope this helps-

1372 ISOM ADKINS

Isom b on the Sinking Creek of the New River, Montgomery (Giles) County Va. or Beech Fork of Twelvepole, Kanawha (Cabell 1809, Wayne 1842) County Va. (W.Va. 1863). It is not known to whoa Isom married. Most family researchers have her name as Mary 'Polly' Miller, however, the Mud River branch of the family have an Isom b about the same time and they are carrying him as the one who married 'Polly' Miller. Although Isom's wife's name was Mary ' Polly'(listed on land records) I do not believe she was the Polly Miller that married an Isom Adkins in CC 2 Jan.1827. One reason for this belief is the fact that the date of this marriage does not fit into other dates and facts of Isom. For example: the 1830 CC census has Isom aged 30 to 40, one male less than 5, one male 5 to 10, 1 female less than 5, one female 10 to 15 and one female 20 to 30 (Polly). These children do not fit an 1827 marriage. There are numerous land records of Isom and Polly in both CC and WC including the following: Isom was given 40 acres on the Beech Fork by his father' CC deed bk 3 pg 372; Isom bought 60 acres on Lick Creek from his uncle Sherrod, CC deed bk 3 pg 700; and the year 1826 saw Isom sell land on Alford's Creek to Thomas R. Swann, CC deed bk 4 pg 191 while Isom and Polly are listed as heirs of Littleberry in WC deed bk A pg 491.

At this time in our family history there were several Isom's and at least three married Mary 'Pollys' making it near impossible to place them. When I was typing the Manuscript for this book this page was left blank in the hope that I could find more information on this Isom. He does not appear on any Wayne, Cabell, Boone or Lincoln in or after 1850 nor does he appear on Lawrence or Boyd County, Kentucky, however he was in the area as he is listed as the administratror of his father's estate. As a result of much research I believe he is the Isom mentioned in the Adkins Family Pamphlet of 1955. The writer is speaking of Isom the brother of Littleberry Sr. however, I Believe the years had sort of blended these two Isom's together. The Isom mentioned in the pamphlet was a dealer in Ginseng and furs and owned several stores in the Raleigh, Kanawha county area. Littleberry's Isom had a son named Cumberland and the Isom mentioned in the Pamphlet had a son named Cumberland. Hopefully some descendant may take this information and make the proper connection.

CHILDREN OF ISOM AND MARY 'POLLY' ADKINS

  • 13721 Harrison m Sarah.
  • 13722 Cumberland
  • 13723 Matilda b ca 1822.
  • Several others.

As the final typing is taking place I have been unable to find additional information.
