LEEAN ADKINS Obituary (Jan 02, 2010)

LEEAN ADKINS, 88, of Branchland, W.Va., went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009. He passed away at St. Mary's Medical Center after a short illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. Jesse Lacy and Elder Emual Adkins. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery, East Lynn, W.Va. He was a long time member of the Bethlehem United Baptist Church in Branchland, W.Va. He was born Nov. 6, 1921, in Wayne County, W.Va., a son of the late Lambert and Pheoba (Bradshaw) Adkins. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ishmal Adkins, Hanable Adkins, Matt Adkins and Alderson Adkins; and one sister, Thirley Adkins. He was a veteran serving in the United State Army during World War II. He was stationed in the Hawaiian Islands during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was retired from the H.K. Porter Company. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 55 years, Revella Adkins; two daughters that loved and cherished their daddy, Kathy Adkins and her husband Thurman of Barboursville, and Bonnie (Adkins) Eaves and her husband Dwayne of Branchland, W.Va.; three special grandchildren that will miss their papaw, Andy Leean Adkins of Barboursville, Bryan Gale Adkins and his fiancé Marlana Neace of West Hamlin, Natalie Ann (Adkins) Karle and her husband Nick of Huntington; two great-grandchildren that Leean adored, Gabriella Karle and Maximus Karle of Huntington; very special friends, Hollis and Emma Jean Adkins, and Sue Adkins, all of Barboursville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that Leean loved dearly.
