Biography
Nancy was born about 1783 to Joseph Adkins and an unknown mother. [1]
Sometime between December 6th-20th, 1797 she married James Drake as his second wife. [2][3][4][5]
From Ronnie Adkins book, "The Adkins Family of Wayne County, West Virginia, Also Cabell, Lincoln and Boone": [1]
When Nancy and James were married her father was security and he stated that she was of age (she was 14) and Lucinda was born five months later.
After their marriage James & Nancy moved from Virginia to Granger [sic] county Tennessee to join other family members including her uncle, Richard Adkins. When James died she and her family left Tennessee and moved to what is today Lincoln Co. West Virginia. At the time of their move it was Cabell Co. Va. becoming West Virginia in 1863 and Lincoln Co. 1867.
Nancy and James had the following children: [1]

- Rachel, born in 1805, Grainger County, Tennessee
- Henderson, born 19 April 1810, Grainger County, Tennessee
- Theodocia, born ca. 1808-1812, Grainger County, Tennessee
- Sarah Amanda, born c. 1813, Grainger County, Tennessee
Nancy died sometime after 1850. [1]
