Johann Georg Aechtler was born on July 11, 1842 in Rothensol, Württemberg, Germany. His parents were daylabourer Johann Jakob Aechtler and Rosine Dorothee Waidner.^[1][2]

He married Ida Marshall on November 26, 1863 Together they had 11 children:
