William John Stanley "Stan" Aeschlimann was born on 3 October 1918 in Korumburra, Victoria, Australia, the son of Louis Charles Aeschlimann and Fanny Amelia Catherine Aeschlimann.[1]

In his early career he worked as a farmer. He joined the 29/22nd Battalion around 1936, beginning military service on 2 December 1936. His Military Serial Number was 326386.[2][3]

To fight in World War II, he enlisted in the Australian Army in 1941.[1]

Stan married Mary Ellen O'Donnell on 14 February 1942 at the Wodonga Catholic Curch in Wodonga, Victoria.[4]

He died on 16 February 2002 at Frankston Hospital in Frankston, Victoria.
