Biography

Beulah Grace Affolter was born January 1887, in Illinois, the daughter of William Affolter and Fiducia Bliss.

20 June 1900, at the age of 13, Beulah lived with her parents and four sisters in Clinton & Fayette Townships, Linn Co., Iowa. Her father was a R. R. Operator.

19 and 20 April 1910, Beulah and her four siblings lived with her parents in Cedar, Linn Co.. Iowa. Her father was a truck farmer. Her parents had been married 30 years in this, William's second and Fiducia's first marriage. Bertha's mother had given birth to 5 children/5 still living.

In the 1915 Iowa State Census, Beulah was a 28 year-old nurse living in Story, Iowa.

27 September 1918, she married Levi Bridgman, son of LeRoy and Mary Bridgman in Kenwood Park, Linn Co., Iowa. She was 31 and he was 52.

1920 Beulah and Levi Bridgman lived in Cedar Rapids Ward 2, Linn, Iowa, where he was a landscape gardener. Eunice Prescott, a 57 year-old widow doing missionary work was a roomer in the household. Levi's, son Robert L.--20, also lived in their home. He was single. His mother had been born in Minnesota.

1925, The Bridgman family now included 2 year-old Marie. A new piece of information comes to light, as Levi's mother's maiden name is given as Berus. She was born in Ireland.

13 May 1940, at the age of 53, Beulah lived in Temescal Judicial Township, Riverside, California with her husband, Levi--74 and daughters, Marie-- and Leola--14, both children born in Iowa. Beulah was employed as a registered nurse at the county Hospital and Levi worked in termite control. They had lived in the same house since at least 1 April 1935.
