William Agg was born in Gloucestershire, England.

William Agg was born before 1830 and was baptised on 14 February 1830 in Alderton, Gloucestershire, England. [1] He is the son of Charles Agg and Ann Stephens.

In the 1841 Census, William aged 10 was at home in Alderton, Gloucestershire with his parents Charles and Ann Agg [2] along with his siblings:

Also in the household were Ann Agg aged 80 (possibly the mother of Charles) and William and Robert Stephens, aged 85 and 80.

In the 1851 Census, William Agg aged 21 was at home with his parents Charles (a Shoe Maker) and Ann Agg in Alderton, Gloucestershire [3] and their children:

  • Robert Agg aged 18;
  • Emma Agg aged 16; and
  • Jane Agg aged 13.

A grandson of Charles and Ann, Thomas Agg, aged 14 was also in the household.

On 28 October 1868, William married Emma Andrews (born about 1830 in Winchcomb, Gloucestershire) in Alderton, Gloucestershire, England. [4]

In the 1871 Census, William (a Boot & Shoe Maker-Up) and Emma were at home in Alderton, Gloucestershire, England [5] with their children:

  • Andrew Agg aged 16;
  • George Agg aged 11; and
  • Rosetta Agg aged 8.

Also in the household was Charles Agg aged 82 and a Boarder named John Davis (a Boot And Shoemaker).

In the 1881 Census, William (a Boot Maker Employing two Men one Boy) and Emma were at home in Alderton, Gloucestershire, England [6] with their son George Agg aged 21 (a Boot Maker) and an apprentice from Sedgeborough, Worcestershire, England named James Stephens.

In the 1891 Census, William was working as a Sub Postmaster & Shoe Maker and living with Emma in Alderton, Gloucestershire, England. [7]

In the 1891 Census, William now aged 71 and described as a Boot Maker was still living with Emma in Alderton, Gloucestershire, England. [8]
