Hi Susan,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Hi (again) Susan

At WikiTree we do not post our personal phone number or email address on our profile as it can lead to receiving unwanted spam as Wikitree is a public website. At WikiTree we communicate by posting a comment on another member profile or sending a personal message from the profile of a member.

Take care Karen

Thank you Karen

I will try and get my head around things over the weekend, all looks a bit daunting but I will have a good read first Just one question at the moment, I've not got my phone number or email address on my profile have I? I cant see it my end Many thanks Susan

Hi Susan,

There is a lot to take in all in one go, and if you look at the comments at the bottom, the replies you posted after Ambers message, you have an email address on there, I should have taken the part about a phone number out of the message, but I forgot :-(

I am here to help whenever you need it

Have a lovely weekend

Take care Karen

Hi Susan

May i suggest amending your tags so you have one tag for each name you are researching and the location

If you create separate tags for your surnames, the tags become clickable links to pages of others who want to collaborate about that surname. With the surnames combined in a tag, that isn't possible. This link may help you [1]

Your Wiki Genealogy Feed will show the activity connected to the surnames and places relating to your tags.

Welcome Susan

I am pleased to confirm and welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site

Happy tree climbing

Karen ~ WikiTree Greeter

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.

Hello and welcome to WikiTree!

The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? You will soon get an email from us that will have some great links to get you started on WikiTree. When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an option to volunteer to add new information to WikiTree. At that time you may also be asked to add tags to your profile. (Tags are surnames, locations, concepts, etc. that you'd like to track.) .Once you volunteer, myself or another one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way! Feel free to contact me anytime.

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.

Amber
