Biography

Rolland was born on 7 August 1882 in Willshire Township in Van Wert County, Ohio.^[1] He was the first child of Jeremiah Agler and Ida J Moore.^[2]

Rolland's mother died in 1884 three months after giving birth to a daughter who did not survive. His father remarried in 1886 to Cora Shaffer, and they had five children who were Rolland's half-siblings: Robert Baron Agler, Blanche M. Agler, Carey McCoy Agler, Della Fay (Faze) Agler and Harry Eugene Agler.

Rolland was raised by his grandfather, Timothy Agler.^[1] In 1900, at the age of 17, Rolland is found working on the farm of his grandfather in Willshire County where they are living with one of Rolland's uncles, McCoy Agler, and next door to another, Ira Agler.

He married Jennie Livsey on 14 January 1905 in Marion, Indiana, and their first daughter Valma (1905-57) was born there 9 months later.^[3] Around this time Rolland began working as a bookkeeper for the Ohio Oil Company, where he was a life-long employee. They moved to Casey, Illinois in 1907 and had three more daughters:

• Maurine (1908-2004)
• Ruth (1912-99)
• Betty (1921-80)

He died on 20 April 1962 in Casey, Illinois^[4] and is buried there in Casey Cumberland Cemetery.^[1]
